Hadramout Restaurant is a Yemeni and Middle Eastern halal restaurant at 1 Welmar Street East, Manchester M14 5SS. Set near Rusholme and Wilmslow Road, it has become a familiar name for diners looking for mandi, smoked meat platters, rice dishes, mezze, and generous family-style meals.
From my visit and notes gathered from public restaurant pages, Hadramout Restaurant feels casual, warm, and rooted in Yemeni dining culture. The space has a modest look, but the atmosphere feels genuine. Guests come in groups, families share big platters, and the smell of grilled meat, spiced rice, broth, and bread gives the room a homely character.
The main reason to visit is mandi. The restaurant’s menu focus centers on slow-cooked meat, fragrant rice, and large sharing plates. Chicken mandi is a smart first order for new guests. The meat is soft, lightly smoky, and served over rice with gentle spices. Lamb mandi brings a richer flavor and a deeper aroma, making it a better pick for diners who enjoy tender meat with more body.
Hadramout Restaurant also serves Mediterranean and Yemeni plates, with public menu notes pointing to special mandi and smoked meat platters. A mixed platter works well for groups, since everyone can try rice, meat, sauces, salad, and bread from the same spread. The portions feel generous, so arriving hungry is a good idea.
Starters and side dishes add balance to the meal. Mezze-style plates, salads, bread, soups, and dips help soften the richer meat dishes. Older local review notes also mention side dishes as a good way to enjoy the table, mainly for groups sharing several plates at once. Broth with lamb or chicken gives the meal a comforting edge before the main platter arrives.
A few guest photos and review notes point to dishes such as lamb broth, chicken fahsa, and muqalqal. Chicken fahsa brings a saucy, spiced profile, good for diners who like food with heat and depth. Muqalqal offers chopped meat cooked with seasoning, often eaten with bread or rice. These dishes give the restaurant more personality than a basic grill spot.
The vibe is informal, family-friendly, and relaxed. Some guests mention Arab-style seating and private family areas upstairs, which makes the restaurant useful for group meals. Service tends to feel direct and welcoming, with an easy pace that fits a rice-and-platter meal.
Hadramout Restaurant is a strong Manchester pick for Yemeni mandi, lamb, chicken, smoked meat platters, mezze, broth, and halal Middle Eastern comfort food. For a first visit, order chicken mandi, lamb mandi, a mixed platter, fresh bread, salad, and tea.

I would like to thank Hadramout Restaurant for their excellent service and warm hospitality. A special thanks goes to Majed for his outstanding service and quick response to our requests. We enjoyed the lamb dish very much, and the desserts that Majed brought for us were delicious and a wonderful touch. Overall, it was a great dining experience, and I highly recommend this restaurant.

A wonderful selection of food. I am pescatarian and have found several things on the menu suitable for me and I order them on repeat as they are so good. My husband recommends the lamb Mandi. The Mandi rice is incredible, honestly the best rice I’ve ever tasted. Lovely private traditional Arabic seating upstairs and normal table and chairs downstairs. My only complaint it we waiting a very long time for the food however when we order to home or collect it’s usually quick Group size

I can confidently say this is among the top restaurants I've ever visited. Their hospitality is truly remarkable, offering unlimited, complimentary, and incredibly tasty soup that adds a wonderful touch to the meal. When it comes to Yemeni cuisine, I've yet to find a better spot; the food here is simply outstanding. I highly recommend exploring their Fahsa, Lahsa, Mandy, and the Liver dishes, all of which are exceptional. Furthermore, it's an ideal venue for families, making it a great choice for a group outing. The atmosphere was pleasantly warm, which I appreciated, though I believe a slight optimization of the lighting and heating could further enhance the overall comfort.
